"They say it was nothing but a myth, a legend, fairy tales from long ago."
"Nonsense."
"They say magic was never really a thing, just the go to explanation for things they couldn't explain."
"Foolishness."
"They say the ninja were just dead people from a long time ago, and that their stories, their history, it was just scraps of metal, fragments of paper, and giant holes in reality, yet, here we are, moments away from uncovering a lost truth, a lost history, the lost city of Sawa..."
The sounds of speech quietly faded and were overtaken by the sounds of immense engines, machinery, and the clamoring of dozens of people on the deck of the great ship Tyris. Its massive bulk had pushed up the dark river, deep into the heart of the unamed jungle its crew had been traversing for the past three months. Every day they would trek into the jungle, on foot or by small boat, or small vehicles, and every night they would come back, empty handed, yet never discouraged. It was little over a week ago that their work finally began to pay off. One of the crew had found a stone pillar jutting out from between two massive trees. It wasn't the first stone structure they had seen, but there was something special about it, something out of place. It had a sort of marking inscribed on it, something ancient and yet familiar, and when it was touched, it gave off a faint green glow along the runes, and the jungle, for just a moment, fell totally silent...
Unfortunately, silence isn't always golden.
